Hi,
I have setup an esxi 5.0 environment and deployed the linux vcentre appliance as well as the new vma 5.0 appliance. Aside from some password/timezone glitches etc everything seems to be fine.
Because the blades I am testing with use ESXi USB keys, they cannot log locally -- so I would like to use the vma for this... however vilogger gives me "command not found" when executing from within the VMA. Has this changed in version 5? I can find no documentation explaining this.
Thanks
Hello and welcome to the forums.
Yes, vilogger has been removed in vMA 5. The vCenter Server Virtual Appliance has a syslog collector that you could use.
Good Luck!
Is there any documentation for configuring the syslog server on the VMa for esxi hosts?
As mentioned, vilogger has been depercated, but you still have a few alternatives. Take a look at this blog article for both a Windows or Linux solution - http://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2011/07/free-linux-windows-syslog-alternatives.html
There is some info in kb 2003248.
Why VMWare doing **do** **undo** thing in each and every version. Why they are not consistent.
@satish.lx I completely agree! Is there any reason why it was removed?
