ESX 2.x host source for AD account lockout ?

    arkalyan Lurker

My AD (active directory ) account is getting locked out every 10 minutes and the envision security tool points out my ESX 2.x server as the source of the account lockout . Any idea to resolve this issue other than trying a reboot of this host would be appreciated !

      Thanks

          Hi,

Just wondering if you are mapping a drive from the ESX host? Check what you have mounted to confirm.

          Kind regards,

          Glen

            Glen ,

Yes earlier I did had smbfs mount with my AD ID  for copying my templates and completely forgot it !! . I did checked now and I dont see the mount any more but I see only the folders /mnt/test .I tried the following

Umount /mnt/test - Device is busy error

            fuser -m /mnt/test - Input /Output error

            fuser - k /mnt/test - Input /Output error

Umount -f /mnt/test - umount 2 device or resource busy

                                           umount : //ipadress/dir : not found

                                           umount : /mnt/test : Illegal seek

If Iam trying to remount the same volume it throws me an error " could not resolve mount point /mnt/test " . If iam trying to delete the directory it says the resource busy error message .

rmdir /mnt/test  : device or resource busy .

I think somewhere this older connection still exsist is there anything else we can try to clear it up ?

            Thanks

Also I tried to mount the same smbfs share to a different mount point that works but still could not able to remove the old  mnt/test directory .

I tried lsof | grep /mnt/test and it gave me this message

lsof: WARNING: can't stat() smbfs file system /mnt/test

                    Output information may be incomplete.

              Also

              chmod -R 777 test

chmod: getting attributes of `test': Input/output error ..

Is there any other options other than rebooting the server

              Thanks

                Hi,

                Have you tried the following:

                • umount -l /mnt/temp

Like you, I am pretty sure some process has the mount still "open". Give the above a go and let us know how you get on.

                Kind regards,

                Glen

Had another thought - have you checked the other console sessions to confirm you are not logged in on one of those?

                  Just a thought

                  Kind regards,

                    Glen,

I don't see any connections from the other side .Also the umount-l switch  dosen't seems to be Available with this ESX 2.x.

                    Thanks,

                    Kalyana
