Running virtula Windows XP SP3 on Windows 7 64bit.
Last week everything was working fine. This morning VMware Player could not access the link to my file. I have tried restoring VMX and VMDK to last weeks setup, but I still am getting the same error. I have seen other postings that have the same error, but seem to be with other system configurations.
Not sure an a resolution.
I have attached the restored VMX file.
Should I restore all the files in the folder?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Please take a look at the vmware.log in the VM's folder. If it contains the error message you may find out what causes it. If you want, attach the vmware.log to your next post and I will take a look at it.

Looking at the log file shows that the VM is located on a network drive (which will work, but slower as a locally located VM). In addition to this the log shows that it was suspended rather than powered off the last time it was used. I assume the suspend state causes the issue. If you have a backup, you could try to delete the vmss and vmem file and then start the VM.

I copied my files from the network drive to my local C drive. Attached below is the log file from trying to run the virtual machine. I do not see a vmss or vmem file. There are several old log files along with these other files nvram, vmdk (disk file), vmsd, vmx, and vmsf. I have deleted all except the vmx and vmdk and tried running again with the same results.
The 2nd log file is from running after the deletion of the files.
I do have an older VM that is smaller that I am able to run and it is working fine. I also have copied this to my local drive.
Thanks again!
Since I could not get resolution on this issue, I have deleted the VMWare file and updated my back up file. As with any other program, keep a back up in the event of a major problem.
