customization not supported in Converter standalone

Hi

I wanted to convert a powered on Windows XP client to workstation 7.0 VM using Vcenter Converter Standalone.

Unfortunately it failed with the error at 98% "Failed: Customization is not supported for this guest OS"

I don't really understand what's meant with customization. Under adanved I didn't select "reconfigure destination virtual machine"

The powered on Windows XP has 2 partition and I do only convert one partition where the operatiing system and all programs are stored. I don't think this is an issue.

I don't need to sysprep the machine since it is a one to one conversion and the powered on machine will retire then and continue to run as a VM.

Any idea?

Thanks;

Edy

Which version of Converter are you using?

For XP I usually use the 3.0.3.

I'm using the latest version 4.X.X.

I was able to solve it. I re-ran it today and I selected nothing for "install vmtools", "reconfigure machine" and "remove restore point". I believe this was the mistake I did yesterday.

Thanks
