Hi, I have been having issues with creating a new VM (Server 2008 R2). After the initial creation, I power it on - it then immediately boots to network. I have tried to change the boot order in the BIOS and even removed the Network Adapter via Virtual Machine Properties. I have built VMs numerous times using this method. I am using a DVD ISO I created which I know works. I select 'Connect to E:\' which is my DVD Drive on my laptop and have rebooted (loses connection to DVD Drive everytime). I have even changed the network adapter type from E1000 to VMXNET3 - made no difference.
I am well and truiy puzzled!
Any ideas?
You can connect the remote ISO only when VM is powered on.
I suggest to set in VM property a delay (or to enter in BIOS), press ESC during POST to enter in Boot Menu, select CD but wait to confirm.
Then connect the ISO and now start booting.

Silly question but is it (CD ROM) set to connect at power on?
You need to click the connect cd/dvd button when the vm is turned on from the console.

Thanks for your replies.
I rebooted the VM, pressed ESC to select the boot menu. Before I selected the 'CDROM' option I then selected the cd/dvd drive option within the VMWare Window and then pressed 'cdrom' boot option and it started booting from the DVD!
Thanks again.
