Distributed Virtual switch and Virtual centre

I have a question on the distributed virtual switch.  As the config for the distributed virtual switch is no saved in virtual centre as opposed the standard vswitch which is saved in esx server.  So if we only have a distributed virtual switch and no standard vswitches, if the virtual centre is restarted does that mean our virtual machines lose access, as the config is in the virtual centre.

Any advise on this.

The configuration of the distributed switch is saved to both the vSphere hosts and the vCenter database. This is to make sure that networking is not interrupted in the event of a failure of the vCenter server.

The local copy of the vDS is saved to /etc/vmware/dvsdata.db and is updated every 5 minutes.
