Hai,

Some specs
ESXi 4.1, Dell Perc 5/i met 2x 500Gb Samsung SATA disks.

When creating storage i get the error below.

Call "HostDatastoreSystem.CreateVmfsDatastore" for object "ha-datastoresystem" on ESXi "192.168.x.x" failed.

NFS is no problem.

How can i troubleshoot this error or how can i solve this?

Grtz

On the vSphere Client, go to Home > System logs and check for errors on the timeframe you see the error. You should see something helpful no vmkernel and hostd.log files.

Hi Martinznet,

We also had same error with EMC VNXe3100 iSCSI connection on a ESXi 5.0, on a HP A5500 switch with LACP and LAG configured. Could you explain me how did you diagnose and resolve the issue ?

Thanks for all.

Hi,

This sometime can happen if you have some file system that can not be wiped or understood by your ESXi host on that datastore. You will need to wipe the disk clean before being able to use it. I have posted a blog post on this at:

Call “HostDatastoreSystem.CreateVmfsDatastore” for object “ha-datastoresystem” on ESXi “xxx.xxx.xxx....

Hope this help!

Hi, I just had the same issue and it was fixed by fixing an issue with the MTU packet size. Jumbo frames were enabled on the storage, iSCSI vmkernel ports and iSCSI standard switch but there were issues with the MTU in Cisco UCS manager (UCS manager QOS policy). If jumbo frames were reverted back to 1500 the issue went away until UCS was fixed.

Hi,

I had the same issu on a freshly added host.

Iscsi virtual switch was missing mtu 9000 for jumbo frame support.

FYI for people finding that thread.

The MTU change worked for me.

Didnt make sense though, entire stack was on 9000.

Hello Guys,

I have the same issue using ESXi with a QNAP 412 Turbo, Where would I change the MTU at?

Thanks,
