Unable to start vCenter Server 4.1 service

Hi All -

I have installed 4.1  vCenter Server on a brand spankin' new VM.  All went well except I rec'd an error during the install "Warning 25205.Error loading licensekey to LDAP Server".  The install continued and stated that it was successful.

I read on the forum that this is caused by the firewall being on and blocking port 389.  Indeed our firewall was on, so I disabled it.

Do I need to re-install vCenter Server after I disable the firewall?

If I do need to re-install, it looks as though I have to uninstall and then re-install... What will that do to my database that was supposedly upgraded?  Anything?

The reason I ask is because (1) vCenter Server will not start and (2) Configure Tomcat is in my start menu and when I try to launch it, it gives me access denied error.

As an FYI.. I do still have the old 32bit vCenter Server available, but vCenter Server is disabled on it.  I can start the service on the old 4.0 32bit vCenter Server and everything works fine.  From what I have read, this should not be the case since 32bit is not compatible with the 64bit database, so something did not update the database like it should have or am I mistaken? -->  UPDATE, I was incorrect, I cannot start the service back up on the old vCenter Server, so disregard this info.

The only error I am seeing on the database server side is the following:

Login failed for user 'Domain\VMGR01_64$'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: 10.10.2.108]

No previous errors.

Thank you for your help.

yeah, I saw that article but I have no errors on the SQL side..  :smileyconfused:

I think I will just uninstall and then re-install

if this is a start from scratch build, I too would rebuild.  No harm, no foul.

Rock n roll..  All is well. Uninstalled vCenter Server and re-installed and everything is working excellent now.  Thanks for your help, Troy!
