Newbie Question

Hi.

I  am new to VMware, and new to computing in general. I am wondering in simple terms, what the LSI Logic SAS controller is that we can choose from when creating a viritual machine? What does this actually do?

I appreciate any help.

Hope that this helps ...

yeah is just a virtual Hard disk controller, like a physical one there are different types, that use different protocols or ways to talk with the storage. the one you mentioned was implemented in vmware products for windows 2008 as mentioned.

depends on operating system and what you are doing with it to which one you would choose.

It is a virtual SCSI controller that enables you to write data to a virtual harddisk. There are several types of virtual controllers and depending on your OS one of those will be automatically selected. I wouldn't worry about it too much for now as VMware will make the right decision for you.
