Can I change the uuid.location and uuid.bios by vCLI command?

Can I change or generate the uuid.location and uuid.bios by vCLI command? Or I have to use the VMware API function?

When I copied a virtual machine, from the "Answer Question" menu, I have to choose "I copied it". Then I examined the VM1.vmx and found that the uuid.location, uuid.bios and the ethernet0.generatedAddress have been changed. Can I change them manually?

Thank you very much.

The UUID is auto-generated just, it's not recommended that you change it yourself. If you want a particular default whether you keep or change it, you can add the following .vmx params as specified by this VMware KB - http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1541

The MAC Address can be changed, but you need to ensure you follow VMware's OUI 00:50:56, here's a VMware KB with more details - http://kb.vmware.com/kb/507
