CVSE class any good?

Has anyone taken the 5 day CVSE - Certified Virtualization Security Expert bootcamp class? From the topics listed in the course outline, it looks like it covers a lot of good ground.

Any personal experience? Worth the time and money?

it has being discussed previously. Have a look at this thread: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1207032

Actually that thread is for a totally different certification. CVSE is a *security* certification, not a general virtualization cert.

Hello,

The discussion is really the same, in essence who responds to this certification.  Does anyone require this for employment, advancement, etc. Does VMware recognize the certification, etc.?

Even so, I do know that the material presenting in the class is quite good and Tim is an excellent instructor. Is the course worth taking? I believe so. The course makes use of the material presented in VMware vSphere and Virtual Infrastructure Security as well as new attacks and concerns that have come out since the book was published.

Does this mean the certification is worth achieving? Unsure. The ceritication on more than just security knowledge, but architecture and other aspects, this is a very wide ranging set of topics that I think takes more than just taking an exam, more hands on proven knowledge. Is the exam enough to say the person KNOWS virtualization security or more to the point is someone I would trust to architect, design, review, and implement security within the virtual environment? Or is it a certification that says you took the class and know the material presented but not necessarily anything outside the material? Virtualization Security is fairly far reaching....

I wasn't so much concerned with the certification, as with the material presented in the class and take aways that make a difference in the real world.  From the course outline it seemed to cover a broad ground, far exceeding the very narrow focus of say the VMware hardening guide. I'm looking for practical knowledge specific to a virtualized infrastructure I can incorporate into designs to make them more secure. If the course can do that then the certification is just another bullet on my resume.
