unable to deply 64 bit guest OS on ESX 4.1

Hi,

I have a Dell 1950 x86_64 bit ESX 4.1

When i try to depoly a 64 bit OS W2k8 R2, i get a error message as follows:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause... File: \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe Status: 0xc000035a Info: Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode."

Is dell 1950 not supporting deployment of 64 Bit Guest OS on ESX 4.1 ? even though it is a 64 Bit processor.

there is this Intel VT (virtualization technology) option that needs to be enable in the bios. therefore you need to poweroff all VMs and schedule a reboot for the host.

In addition to you may need to completely power cycle the server after enabling VT. A simple reboot will most likely not be sufficient.
