Are Host Files Containing the Virtual Disks Encrypted?

Are host files containing the virtual disks encrypted when you select to encrypt a virtual machine, or does encryption encompass virtual machine configuration files only?

Hi Mobile123,

Encryption is for configuration AND data files, that is the virtual disks. It is something you must check for example when using DiskMount.

Good luck.

Diskmount is a command line tool used to mount a vmdk on the host as a local disk. It is not able to mount an encrypted vmdk. But it is not needed anymore as you can now do the same operation with a simple right click on the virtual disk and select "Map Virtual Disk"...
