We have two subnets one public and one private.
69.xx.xxx.xxx and a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx
I want to avoid having too many machines on vmware.
So can I have a vcetner that can monitor and control all the vms on both the subnets?
I have 5 vms on the 69 subnet and 5 on the 10 local subnet.
Can this be done? Or do i have to have two seperate vcenters?
Thanks
RJ
As long as the vCenter server can access both subnets, you can manage all Hosts/vm's from a single vcenter server. You may have some firewall issues to work through based on the internal vs. external subnets though.
The vcenter here is a vm.
It lives in the 69.xxx.xxx.xxx host.
I have vmnic 2 of that host connected to 10.xxx.xxx.xxx subnet
I added nic 2 to the vcenter vm and gave it a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx ip.
Am i doing stuff right?
the windows 2008 vcenter machine now has two ips, 1 public and 1 private but i dont think it can use both.
How will this all work out?

you need someway to route between the subnets, but I'm concerned about security. Is there a firewall in the mix? or are these 69.x.x.x systems directly connected to the Internet? can you post a diagram of your scenario?
