Error registering nexus 1000v

Hi all

I´m trying to register a nexus 1000v plug-in and I find this error:

"And internal error occurred in the vSphere client.

Details: Invalid URI: The URI is empty."

Installation details:

ESX 4.1

Vsphere 4.1

nexus 1000v 1.3a

I have nexus VSM and download XML from http://"Ip VSM"

Thanks for all

Hi,

Are you trying to click the Download and install link that shows in the extensions page in the vSphere client? (That is not a needed operation with the Nexus1000V Extension Key) If it shows in the extension list, you should be all set to create your svs connection.

Thanks,

sachin

Hi all,

When I try to show status connections, this is:

n1000vSite2# sh svs connections vc

connection vc:

ip address: 10.100.41.27

remote port: 80

protocol: vmware-vim https

certificate: default

datacenter name: Datacenter Site 2

DVS uuid: -

config status: Disabled

operational status: Disconnected

sync status: -

version: -

And when I try to connect, this is:

n1000vSite2(config)# svs connection vc

n1000vSite2(config-svs-conn)# connect

ERROR: Operation could not be completed due to connection failure.Error observed by underlying BIO: Connection reset by peer. SSL connect failed in

tcp_connect()

Thanks. all

I'm guessing that vCenter has be configured to use another port other then 80 for http access. You'll see that error when the port we want to communicate on does not match the port that vCenter is listening on.

Check vCenter and see what port it is using for http. In vCenter go to Administration->vCenter Server Settings and then click on port and see what port you are using for http.

on the VSM change the port for http with the following command.

svs connection vc

remote port xx

Then try a connect command again

I just wanted verification that the "download and install" link in the Plug-in manager is not supposed to function. I hadn't read any heads up in thethe Cisco documentation.

I attached an image with the error I'm receiving. Just found it stange that it is there if it can't be used.

Hi,

That is correct, the "Download and install" link is non-operational.

I believe this is referenced in the list of caveats in the Nexus 1k docs:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus1000/sw/4_0_4_s_v_1_3_a/troubleshooting/con...

Thanks,

Sachin
