Immediate disconnect when connecting an ISO via the VI client

Guys, we are attempting to set-up custom roles in vCenter.

We have created a custom role that allows the user to access the VI client and connect the ISO directly to the VM.

If we grant the user VM => Interaction => Configure CD Rom

... then when the user connects the ISO... it immediately disconnects the ISO.

The only way we can allow the user to successfully connect the ISO is to also grant Console Interaction.

VM => Interaction => Console Interaction

We'd prefer not to grant the User Console Interaction rights.

Are we doing something wrong here?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

A user would normally connect or disconnect an ISO file from a virtual machine through the console connection to the virtual machine. So if the user is not allowed to interact with the virtual machine, then maybe that is why you are seeing this issue?

What other privilages have you provided this user with?

What version of ESX / vCenter Server are you using?

Maybe I could attempt to reproduce this behaviour on my environment?
