View 4.5 Issues

Currently we are trying to deploy View 4.5 and we are having issues with deployed VM's. VM's have joined the domain and the machine accounts reside in AD , Domain users are entitled to the pool and they are not able to able to log into the domain. We are using the right agent.

Errors" View Composer agent initialization failed"

Error" Provisioning error occurred on Pool Comp-0 because of a configuration problem"

Error"Provisioning error occurred for Machine TComp-01: View Composer agent initialization failed"

Are you receiving that error during the automated provisioning? Does the Status under the Inventory in View Manager show the Agent Version/Available status?

Is there anything enlightening in C:\WINDOWS\Temp\vmware-viewcomposer-ga-new.log on the virtual desktop?

We have also problems with adding vms to the domain.

In the View Manager we see folowing error on the desktop 11.09.10 21:44 Uhr MESZ: View Composer agent initialization state error (18): Failed to join the domain (waited 880 seconds)

The View Manager is 4.5, the View Agent 4.5 and the Composer still 2.0.

The Composer run on a Server 2008 Standard. With View 4.0.1 we not have this issu and works with 2008 R2 DC's

Yes I have agent#4.5.0 , it as a error message on the status "9/12/10 7:51:46 AM CST: View Composer agent initialization state error (18): Failed to join the domain (waited 780 seconds)"

VMware View Composer Log, Yes I see issues with joining domain and still have machine account in the domain.

Linjo's suggestion fixed this exact issue for us.

Weird that it didn't occur in 4.0, but started occurring in 4.5. I wonder what changed in this regard?

Same here. This fixed the same issue I was having with my Windows XP machines.

I am not 100% sure here, but I think we changed something in the Quickprep code in 4.5 that triggers this bug in WinXP.

Check your logs C:\WINDOWS\Temp\vmware-viewcomposer-ga-new.log .

Is your machine joined the domain? Do you have right video driver?

Are you able to log into using View Client?

Do all your updates and reinstall your VM tools and the agent.

Also release your IP before you do your clone.

What end device are using to connect your VM's. check with the vendor for the latest firmware update.

I am having the same issue with Windows 7 as well. Domain is on 2003 not 2008.  I am not certain yet but it appears that the customization is failing when on a certain ESX host as well.

We are rebuilding our xp image now because of this very problem, we were not able to install the KB944043 fix in our existing golden image because of dependancy issues and from what I remember it was the 4 KB hotfixes you mentioned that were getting in the way. Hopefully this will fix our issue 😞
