Could not connect Ethernet0 to virtual network "VMNet0"

Just installed windows 7 64bit on my computer and installed VMWare as well. Problem is I cannot get the network to run for my virtual machines. Everytime I start the virtual machine, I get the error message Could not connect Ethernet0 to virtual network "VMNet0".

Turned off UAC, but that did not help.

Before Windows 7 I had Vista 32bit and everything worked fine.

Could this be a 64bit issue?

Welcome to the forums!

1. Check that you have an active physical network link

2. Disable autobridging and set VMnet0 to the desired adapter (in the Virtual Network Editor)

If that doesn't work, check if you have a "vmnetbridge.dll" in %systemroot%\system32 and vmnetbridge.sys in %systemroot%\system32\drivers.

If these files exist try:

vnetlib -- uninstall bridge

Reboot

vnetlib -- install bridge

Go to step 2 again.

vmnetbridge.dll was not available.

Seems like installing 7.1.1 solved the problem (I had 7.1.0).

Thanks for the answer

You could have try the "repair" option in the installer, as this would copy the missing dll again. I guess the same was done by installing 7.1.1

not really, already did a repair and install/uninstall with 7.1.0 but that didnt help (it did give some strange warnings during install, maybe that was cause)
