Hi Vmware gurus!
VMWare 7.1.1. (with license) (also tried 7.1.0 earlier)
During vmware installation, install of bridged networking fails with error:
"An error occured while copying file vmnetbridge.dll. Cannot copy file to
destination directory. c:\window\system32"
Logged in using a local administrator group assigned account.
UAC = Never Notify (disabled).
F-Secure 9.00 (disabled during install).
Windows 7 (7600) Professional 64 bit (Eng_US) (please note: this is a 64 bit OS, shouldn't there be a 64 specific dll?)
The only netcard showing up after installation is:
Intel(R) 82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection
(i.e. No VMWare Net0 etc. seen )
In Virtual Network Editor, tried to bridge from dlg: "there are no un-bridged host network adapters."
Also tried this:
rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection VMnetAdapter1.Install
128 %CD%\netadapter.inf
resulted in
Error: -
Installation failed.
Also tried copy the file vmnetbridge.dll manually into dir before adding the service vmnetbridge in control panel->network.
However the (windows) setup still fails copy the file (even though it's now already has been copied into the dir before the setup was performed!).
Any hits how to rectify much appreciated
Gracias!

That dll might be for the GUI only. Maybe that is still 32 bit.

Are there more physical adapters?
You should see at least:
- your physical adapters
- VMnet1 (for host-only)
- VMnet8 (for NAT)
The bridged connection (VMnet0) is only "visible" from the virtual network editor. Have you stared that one, already? If so, post screenshots of its state.

VMnet0 should be bridged, but that doesn't work, right? Try to set VMnet0 to bridged. If you receive errors you might want to try to deinstall and reinstall VMware Workstation.
Deinstall happens!

Cannot change network to bridged: There are no un-bridged host network adapters.

Have tried to reinstall both 7.1.1 and 7.1.0 without joy
You're running the installation as a member of the local administrator group?

Yes.
I also disabled F-Secure during installation.
Note: vmworkstation setup fails during installation. I also tried (after installation completed) to install the vmnetbridge.dll.
Try to set the connections on the host from "public" to "private".

Try:
vnetlib -- uninstall bridge
Reboot
vnetlib -- install bridge

It was resolved by running the "Repair" on the 7.1.1 setup media.
(it couldn't be fixed by uninstall and reinstall vmware)
I still do not see any VMNet0 card installed tough, but it works both downstream and upstream to the guest.
Thank you for all your hints and t-shooting help.
vmnet0 - if used as bridged does not install a virtual network card - only host-only type vmnets - such as vmnet1 and vmnet8 install a virtual network card
