Hi Kai,

Looks like you are not the only one to have the problem: link 1 and link 2.

Not of a great help I'm afraid...

Good luck

Franck

What is it that you are trying to accomplish when you get this error?

What version of VMware Workstation do you have installed? What is your Host OS? What is your Guest OS?

Those are completely separate errors.

Kai.steinbach, what physical SCSI device are you trying to use?

> what physical SCSI device are you trying to use?

HP surestore ultrium 230, attached to an Adaptec AHA-2940 PCI SCSI Controller.

> What is it that you are trying to accomplish when you get this error?

Read or write backup data from or to the physical tape.

> What version of VMware Workstation do you have installed?

6.5.3, like it says in the tags.

I could upgrade this to 6.5.4, 7.0.1 or 7.1, if you think this will fix the error.

> What is your Host OS?

Windows 2008 sp2 x86 (32 bit), fully patched via Windows Update.

> What is your Guest OS?

Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10, plain from DVD, no updates installed.

In theory this is a supported Guest OS, and even SLES 11 is marked as supported, but experimental.

With a Windows 2003 Server Guest OS and CA ARCserve Backup 15 installed inside the guest, the SCSI PassThru + physical hardware all work perfectly fine: I can read and write tapes without crashing the VM guest or causing any VMware Workstation errors.

Thoughts?

Many thanks, Kai
