Welcome to the Forums - Well it is all depends on which version of the course you took - if you took the vSphere version of the I&M or Fast Track than the course is still valid and pass the VCP 410 exam you will become a VCP - if you took the 3.5 Version you will need to take the the What's New Class and then when you pass the VCP 410 class you will become a VCP -

I take it your course was on vSphere 4, such as the vSphere: Install Configure Manage course? There is no time limit as such for the course and exam, the certification is version-specific, just like the course is, so as long as your course was on vSphere 4 the current exam is on the same version.
