    Unable to Expand VMDK

    AJY Novice

      Hello All ,

I am trying to Expand 2 VMDKs by 10 G each , after shutting down the VM I am using the Command below

      vmkfstools -X 10G disk.vmdk

but getting the Message , File disk.vmdk is already 75161927680 bytes (add --force to shrink) , please see the screeshot also ,

Please advise How to get around this ,

      Regards

      Ajay W

You need to specify the desired size (85G) of the vmdk rather to the delta (10G).

          Type man vmkfstools for details.

EDIT: Do not extend a disk that has a snapshot, you must commit all existing snapshots before modifying a VMDK

You have to use the final total size, not the size you want to add.
