Error with Windows 2008 Server with Esxi 4.0

Hi Guys,

Totally newbie to VMware world, I have been trying to install Windows Server 2008 on my machine but gets the following error.

I am running Esxi 4.0 and all other machines are working perfectly except Windows Server 2008.

\windows\system32\drivers\volmgrx.sys

I assume it doesn't know my NIC driver.

Please help.

Thank you

Hi,

what Windows Server Version do you use? With R2 or without?

R2 is experiimental when you use the esxi without u1

I would recommend you to update to the latest version of esxi

Could you give me an update?

Do you have the error fixed?

Hi Frank,

Thank you for response.

I reinstalled the very latest version of Esxi 4.0 on my system and recreated the VM Client. it does install everything but when the windows Server 2008 R2 reboots. it gives me the failing error

windows
system\drivers\volmgrx.sys

i googled a bit and find out the issue is with HHD, i had a brand new sata drive and still the same issue.

I am using windows server 2008 R2 trial version from microsoft.

Thanks for the help and looking forward to have a solution.

Ps: Please refer to attachment.

Thank you

Arsi

are you changing ANY parameters when you configure this VM? setup the VM, accept ALL the default, don't change a thing. Let it boot, see what happens.

Hi,

do you have any other virtual machine running on that host?

Check also the Hardware Compatibility List.

yeap

windows 2003 and linux machines are working perfectly,

It is only server 2008 that makes the issue.

Hey friends ! if you are worried due to volmgrx.sys file error then you can try to download the updated window server, to apply this process this it may be possible that your obstacle should be remove.
