Just got done installing and configuring 4 new ESX 4.x U1 hosts. When I go to enable HA on the hosts I get the error "Cannot install the vCenter agent service. Cannot upload agent." I have several other 4.x U1 hosts in the environment that have HA enabled and working fine. I have tried removing the host from vCenter and re-adding to force the vpxa agent to reinstall but that didnt work. Has anyone else had ran into this issue before?
Thanks
Jason
DNS resolution is fine?
Your hosts was upgraded from a 3.x version?
Andre
Check the build number of the ESX host that is having problems.
No DNS issues and have a fresh install of 4.x, no upgrades. I was able to get around the issue by adding the hosts to another vCenter server and configuring HA, then disabling HA, removing the hosts and adding them back to the original vCenter. Not exactly sure why the hosts were having issues with the original vCenter as we have clusters already deployed in it using HA.
I'm having the same issue as well. The entire cluster was upgraded from 3.5 to 4.0u1, and ever since the HA agent refuses to install.
Check how much ram/cpu the service console has.
I fixed this by disconnecting the server from VC (not removing it, just a disconnect). Restart the VC service on the VC server. Manually uninstall the VC agents from the ESX host. Reconnect the ESX host to VC. It should ask for a user/pass and upload the agent.
I had the same issue as well. Thanks for sharing Matt, I was able to get the agents working again after disconnecting the host, restarting the VC service and reconnecting the host.
