upgrading from 6.5 to 7 and upgrading Vista to Win 7 -- which do I do first?

I have a workstation currently running VMware Workstation 6.5 and 64-bit Vista. (it is a Core 2 Quad with 8 GB main memory.)

I plan to upgrade to Workstation 7 and Windows 7.

Which upgrade should I do first (VMware or Windows)?

Both ways should work just fine.

Personally I would first update Windows. In case something goes wrong and you have to reinstall Windows, you at least saved the time to update VMware Smiley Wink

why would you want to upgrade Vista ? - copy useful data to a USB-disk and then install Win7 from scratch.

I do not support Workstation 16 at this time ...

I've done upgrade installs of two other Vista systems to Windows 7 (as well as from-scratch non-upgrade "upgrades" on several other systems), and the upgrades went well and were a lot easier and quicker.

I also recommend formatting and doing a fresh install of Win7.

But if you still want to try it, I would uninstall Workstation 6.5, then upgrade to windows 7, and then install Workstation 7.
