VMWare Player loses USB connectivity

I am using VMWare Player 3.0.1 Build 227600. My host OS is Win7 Pro 64-bit & the guest OS is Win7 Pro 32-bit. The VMWare Player tools are loaded in the guest OS.

The VMWare Player works much better than the Windows Virtual Player I once used - especially in handling USB devices.

I have 2 dye-sub printers that only have 32-bit drivers - thus the reason for running the 32-bit within the 64-bit OS.

I have noticed one problem & I would appreciate any suggestions as how to work around this (if there is one):

When I start printing several images from the guest OS, printing will stop if I minimize the VMWare Player & try to do something else in the host OS. It is clear that the host OS takes back the USB printer connection as soon as I go back into the host. This occurs even though printing is in progress via the guest OS. Printing will stop dead in its tracks.

I never use those printer drivers in the host OS, as they are 32-bit. Is there any way I can dedicate the printers to the guest OS? They are treated as being shared & I must always "disconnect from host" even though the host never uses them.
