decommissioned old ESX 3.5 host and want to use license for new ESX 3.5host

We have decommissioned one of our ESX Hosts and will replace it with a new ESX Host. I'd like to use the license from the old host on the new host. How do I do that?

BY shutting down the old host you have returned the licenses to the available pool and ready to be used by the new host -

Depends how it gets its license - if you are using virtual center and a centralized licensing server - just shut down the old server and when you bring up the new server point it at the licensing server - if you are using per host licensing you can reuse the license file - it will have an exenstion ofr .LIC - if you do not have it available you can redownload it from the VMwar elicensing portal -

thanks. We are using Centralized licensing and the license server is on our VirtualCenter box. Since the old server is already shutdown, all I need to do is point the new server license configuration to the central license file/license server? How does the license server know that the old server is not still using the file?
