vSphere virtual center

Has anyone been successful in adding ESX 2.5.x to vSphere 4 virtual center. I am trying to do this in order to upgrade the VMs using upgrade vmotion.

The first time the process stuck at 84% and failed. I tried twice aftger that and the process failed.

The first attempt was with the short name, the second time with the FQDN, and the third time with the IP address of the ESX host.

The error message received was:

a general system error occured: internal error: vmodl.fault.host-communication

Any suggestions would be apreciated.

Are you adding this host to a cluster which has other versions of ESX....Have you tried it adding at datacenter level...

Can you tell the exact version/build of this ESX?

Thanks,,

Thanks for your response Ramesh.

There is no cluster involved. I am trying to add the host to the datacenter. I have already added there are three ESX 4 hosts to the virtual center in preparation for the vmotion upgrade. There was no problem with adding those.

The version ESX is 2.5.0 with build 11548

I think Troy may be on to something here. See attached. Don't know how to fix it though

Looks like there is a access issue here.....what ports do you see under... /etc/xinetd.d/vmware-authd, are the ports mentioned are accessible from outside network (I mean from vCenter)....
