VMware View 4 Agent for unmanaged desktop

Good time of day!

I request trial key for deploy VMware View 4.

All working fine, but i cannot register a unmanaged desktop source on view connection server.

Administration Guide describe following process:

To install VMware View Agent on an unmanaged desktop source

...

4 In the Register with View Connection Server window, specify a server name or

IP address. The IP address can be a standard or replica View connection server instance.

...

But my distibution does not request this information from me.

Question:

I must use different View Agent distribution for virtual machines managed by vCenter and unmanaged stations?

Or this is a bug in VMware-viewagent-4.0.1-233023.exe distibution.

Are you running the view agent installer in a virtual machine?

If you attempt to run the view agent installer in a VM running in VMware Workstation for example, you won't get that prompt, even though the VM itself is not managed by VirtualCenter/vSphere.

You probably want to run the View Agent installer as follows:

VMware-viewagent-4.0.1-233023.exe /V”VDM_VC_MANAGED_Agent=0”

Same problem here, tried following steps, target is XP VM on an ESXi:

1) uninstall agent, reboot

2) install agent from commandline: VMware-viewagent-4.0.1-233023.exe /V"VDM_VC_MANAGED_Agent=0"

3) Setup won't ask for the broker, just runs through after asking for the Agent components

4) Reboot

5) Machine still doesn't show up

There must be a different Switch for the setup in the view4-agent, as i don't even get the question, which broker to use beforce install.

I find a solution,

the corect syntaxe is

C:\VMware-viewagent-4.0.1-233023.exe /vVDM_VC_MANAGED_Agent=0
