Virtual Hardware update in 3.5

Can I use Update Manager to update virtual hardware from 4 to 7 for virtual machines running on a 3.5 host or does it have to be on a vsphere host?

Hello.

The virtual hardware version 7 is not supported on hosts prior to the vSphere releases.
