Hi,
Using this command in the console of ESX Host...
vmware-cmd /vmfs/volumes/499d5f3b-f8d67716-1be3-001e0bdb18ca/anglia/anglia.vmx createsnapshot backup netapp 1 0
I get the following error...
VMControl error -3: Invalid arguments
Searching in the KB articles i found this...
However, reviewing the file vmsd of the virtual machine, not found the suggested error for the KB article.

This is only virtual machine resulting in this problem. The rest of virtual machine (7 in total) no problems with snapshots created by vmware-cmd.
The version the ESX is 3.5 U2
Is safe delete the file vmsd with virtual machine running?
Thanks for reading.
does a snapshot file(delta-vmdk) still excist?

A this virtual machine is assigned a RDM, in another Virtual Machine
Greetings,
just ditch the vmsd file... shouldn't be a problem. (might want to make a backup copy to be 100% certain)

The vmsd file was removed, previously backup, but the problem persist.
Trying to get the snapshot with the machine power off may be an option?
Curious what the vmx is pointing to, a snapshot file or the actual vmdks

It's probably because you have a physical rdm disk for the second drive. remove that drive from the vm's configuration and retry the operation. if that's the issue, you will need to decide if you really need to snapshot the disk or switch to virtual rdm.
I agree with the user to turn off the machine and test that suggests damn66, I will tell the results.
