Upgrade ESXi 4.0 to ESXi 4.0 U1

I want to upgrade my Vmware ESXi 4.0.0 to ESXi-4.0.0 Update 1

I'm using VMware vSphere Host Update Utility,

My current version is Vmware ESXi 4.0.0 build-171294, and i downloaded the upgrade zip is ESXi-4.0.0-1.9.208167-upgrade-release.zip

During the validating upgrade package, It come out error said that "Unsupported ESX version: 4.0.0-1.9"

May I know what is the problem?

Please help ~

Hi,

why are you not using the Host Upgrade Util normaly. It will download all things for you. You can unzip the files, and use the .exe to upgrade. This should also give you a better error message. A normal update didn`t need the import of .zip or iso. This function was only for the Upgrade from esxi 3.xx to 4.xx

You used the Upgrade rather than the Patch button.

You can use Host update utility, with the upgrade zip o simple use it to do download the updates and apply the patch.

You didn't need to download anything. The Host Update utility is all you needed. You use the utility to scan for patches and then apply the patches. The utility takes care of downloading the patches and installing them.

DSTAVERT is correct. It looks like the U1 is a patch not an upgrade.

You haven't specified if this host is standalone or in a cluster but make sure you read the tech notes that are related to the U1 vCenter and host issues. You don't want to upgrade yourself into a heap of trouble over the holidays.
