VMmark Client - Exchange Connectivity Errors

Hello Vmware community!! Your help is much appreciated!

I am configuring a VMmark environment and have an issue with the client connectivity.

Currently it is a single tile environment with a single client machine.

When running Load Sim I am getting these errors:

"0x8004011d] (The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer has failed.)

Nov 02 22:54:11: Iuaasempaa (MAILSERVER0-61): ERROR: Logon failed: Error: MAPI_E_FAILONEPROVIDER

Nov 02 22:54:11: Iuaasempaa (MAILSERVER0-61): Recreating profile...

Nov 02 22:54:11: Creating new profile "Iuaasempaa"...

Nov 02 22:54:11: Iuaase2baa (MAILSERVER0-7): ERROR: Open store "Public Folders": Error: MAPI_E_FAILONEPROVIDER (The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer has failed.)

Nov 02 22:54:11: Iuaase2baa (MAILSERVER0-7): ERROR: Logon failed: Error: MAPI_E_FAILONEPROVIDER

Nov 02 22:54:11: Iuaase2baa (MAILSERVER0-7): Recreating profile...

Nov 02 22:54:11: Creating new profile "Iuaase2baa"..."

This error goes on for every single profile. however it seems like in the exchange server I can see a folder under users that says "Loadsim" and has a ton of users in it.

I am far from an exchange guru so I dont know what is going on.

If anyone can provide assistance It would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

Make sure the client is joined to the domain, has the mailservers set as its primary DNS server, and can ping the mailserver by name.

"Make sure the client is joined to the domain, has the mailservers set as its primary DNS server, and can ping the mailserver by name."

All of the above can happen.

I have added the hosts file to the client as well. The same one I have added to every other machine on the tile. and I am able to ping the mailserver by name

One thing I don't know though is that the hosts file template shows the client DNS name to be : client0.mailserver0.domainname.com

Is this correct? I have it as client0.domainname.com, how could it be client0.mailserver0.domainname.com ? could this be the issue?

As long as the hosts file says client0.domainname on all the machines and that is the domain name I should be okay?

Thanks for your help!

Check your event viewer on the client for errors. Also, try rejoining the domain.

thanks. I rejoined the domain, and checked the event log. and it doesnt seem like there are any issues.

What i dont get is when i use loadsim to "create topology" it populates the Active directory with all the user information, which clearly shows communication between the servers. I can ping the client from the mailsever and vise versa via name.

Do we have anyon who has an idea of exactly what this error message means?

Is it possible it has somthing to do with the default mail store? when i initially installed exchange i had changed some of the settings in the default mail store before I realized it was Exchange standard, then I upgraded to exchange Enterprise and created a 2nd mail store for VMmark.

All help is appreciated. thanks!!!

The error means it cnanot log onto the Exchange server.

Are you running Win2k3 SP2 ? You can try the hotfix mentioned here: http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2008/03/12/448421.aspx

Make sure your Exchange Information Store service is running.

It looks like the original mailbox installed by Exchange was corrupt somehow. I uninstalled exchange and deleted all the files, then reinstalled it and now everything is working.

thanks for you help!!
