Filenames different when viewing in VI Client browser compared to SSH or WINSCP

Ok, this confused me...

When I browse my datastore via the VI Client and look at the VM folder all I see is the ----

Hi,

That's expected behavior.

In order to simplify the data browser explorer window, you only get to see the aggregation of the virtual disk similar to how it looks on a hosted product.

So it is not wrong, but just how it is designed.

The datastore browser refers to the vmdk descriptor but presents the size of the flat vmdk file. The datastore browser does NOT show the flat vmdk. To use the VMDK you must have both parts.
