I figured it out. Now they are booting no problem. It was my error.
I do have another question, which is probably easier.
Once my virtuals have booted (running Centos 4) how do I config them to see the added disk space? The partition has been resized, but I don't know how to fdisk them to see the new disk space.
I usually use gparted live CD. Just boot out of CD and make the changes.

Yes, you got me rolling and I eventually used fdisk to create a new partition, format it with ext3, and mount it to a new mount point /disk2.
