Hi time
Anyone knows why the minimum memory requirements for vSphere ESX 4.0 is 2GB but for vSphere ESXi 4.0 is 3GB? Should it not be the other way around? After all ESXi does not include a COS so I would suspect to require less memory?
Anyway it is just a thought

Hello.
The ESXi Installable and vCenter Server Setup Guide and the ESX and vCenter Server Installation Guide both list 2 GB as the minimum required. Where did you see it listed as 3 GB? Are you sure you didn't read the vCenter memory requirements of 3 GB?
Hi Jose . . I think you're confusing the requirements of the ESX hosts with the vCentre requirements.
ESX and ESXi both should work with 2GB, VC needs 3
(That said . . only a crazy person would run ESX or ESXi with only 2GB . . . why would you want to?)
Hi there,
I saw it in the VMware vSphere 4: Install, Configure, Manager ESX 4.0, ESXi 4.0, and vCenter Server 4.0 Instructor Manual - Volume 2 , Revision B.- Module 13, Installing VMware ESX and ESXi
I guess VMware should amend it.

Haha, I guess demo / lab or test is a viable reason . . .but I can't imagine running any sort of production environment on that
Sure, neither do I. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
