Hello,

ESXi4 should have an internal webserver, if you point your web browser at the hostname or ip address of the ESXi host, you should be able to download the client from there

That's right, you download the VI client either from your ESX servers' web page or from Virtual Centers web page.

Take a look at the installation guide for ESXi, page 31:

Thread moved to ESXi 4 forum.

Have you entered your license key yet? You need to do that to disable the expiration.

It's been a while since I've used ESXi, but I believe you need to

'activate' your free copy with a license key. This should have been

supplied during the registration process, I think details for activation are also emailed to the e-mail account you registered with

where do you punch in the license number? also you need to upgrade all machines to ESXi 4.0 because i can't seem to access machines running 3.5 with the 4.0 client.

You should always post your questions to a new thread.

The license numbers can be added to the configuration tab in the VI client under licensed features. Just edit and add your license. If you don't have the license it can be retrieved from the download page for ESXi free.

You need to have both the 2.5 version and the 4 version of the client. Download and install the 2.5 client from the web interface to your ESXi 3.5 host. Once installed the client will load the correct version depending on the host you connect to.

Does vCenter include the (VI) client?, because I can't find any reference to a VI client anywhere on my ESXi web page or VMware website.

Yes in the wizard to install the vCenter you will find the sources for the client. Or download from your vcenter url http://vcenter
