Can any one please guide me how to create a template in V.C 2.5

I have a 2 node esx clusters and its has 25 virtual nmachines. I need to create a template using virtual machine.

By right clicking the virtual machine there are several option including "convert to template". This option is diasbled for some reason i'm blocking and unable to proceed in creating template i do know for what reason this option is blocked.

How to enable the option. can any one faced the issue?

Is the guest you want to convert to a template (that's the correct way to do it) shut down?

Do you use a vCenter Server or do you have a direct connection with the vCenter client to the ESX server?

You will have to power off the VM to get the option "convert to template"
