VMWare Vcenter Converter Standalone 4.0.1

Hello everybody,

I trying to convert a physical machine to a virtual machine in a esx 4 Server, when i decrease the data partition, for example disk (d:) 40 Go to 10 Go, I always this error : Enable to format partition .... If I convert the entire machine with all disk there is no mistake. The conversion has been tested on the local machine and a remote computer.

Is someone has already had the same problem and found a solution ?

Which type of OS do you have?

PS: The error message is " U nable ..."?

Very strange problem.

The Converter was installed on the W2K3 Server?

I tried on the target computer, on a third computer (Win XP and W2K3) and always the same error. I found a guy who had the same mistake, he asked to vmware support and the solution has been to convert physical computer without convert any disk ... and only after he decrease the disk size with partition magic ...

The solution I used is to decrease the disk size before conversion with parftition manager.
