Hello all.
Without Virtual Center can I still be able to my ESXi U3 to U4? The only software I'm currently using to manage VMWare is VMWare Infrastructure Client. Given that I'm a noob in VM world, any suggestion on how to go about this is much appreciated.
If there is a free version(open source?) of VirtualCenter, can you please provide information as to where I may get this?
Thanks,
jav
Take a look at the instructions here: http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/Patch_3i_without_VC.php by Dave Mishchenko This method will allow you to patch/upgrade your ESXi w/o vCenter. The VI Client is the only tool you can use with the free version of ESXi in terms of management, all the other CLI tools require you to have at a minimum of Foundation license to be able to do anything useful other than read-only access.

Thanks for the input William. I"ve already seen that site and have actually started looking into how it may actualy work for me. Thanks.
This should be pretty straight forward. Go to download patches (http://support.vmware.com/selfsupport/download/) and grab what you need. Check out this document for info on what to do https://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_35/esx_3/r35/vi3_35_25_esxupdate.pdf
