1-service console: i know the service console is used to communicate with esx

Is the management interface.

Provide IP for client-server management, space for additional program (like agent, or similar), a CLI for user interaction, ...

2-vmkernel is used to communicate with storage but i don't know what is the role of vmkernel

Vmkernel is the bare metal hypervisor.

Provide core and memory allocation, disk and network virtualization, and driver to low level device.

3-swap partition and the relation with virtual machine

There are 2 swap: one is the service console swap partition (a normal swap area for linux system), the second is the VM swap area (one file for each powered-on VM) that can provide vRAM if there isn't free physical RAM.

1) Service Console - this is in essence a specialized virtual machine that allows you to manage your ESX host. If you are running ESXi there is no Service Console as this management functinality has been pushed into the vmkernel.

2) vmkernel - this is the operating system of your esx/esxi server - it is what has complete control over all hardware including CPU, memory, NIC and HBAs. The vmkernel is does the virtualization and is also referred to as the hypervisor.

3) the per VM vmkernel swap - this is disk space that is created when the VM is powered on and is used by the vmkernel when there is not enough memory available to the vmkernel to satisfy the VMs requiremwnts. THis is memory of last resort - if it is being used the performance of the VM will be BAD
