cannot install the vcenter agent service. cannot upload agent

cannot install the vcenter agent service. cannot upload agent.

This is the error i get when trying to add in a ESX4 host into vCenter. Currently just using evaluation licensing. Dell R710 hardware. vCenter is a win2k3std32

Any thoughts. Seems weird.

Thanks!

this happened earlier today as well. Not on ESX4, but ESX3.5..... maybe manually installing the agent will work for you?

vCenter Server is version 4?

Your ESX is a new one? Or is an upgrade?

Not sure what was prohibiting my ESX host from getting added into VC, but I finally go it added. Im embarrassed to say however that all I did was reboot the eSX host. I have a feeling it could have been related to an enabling of root access. I had just enabled it and restarted the service. It was the only change I had made. Following the reboot, the host was able to to be added into VC!

thanks

I tried the reboot of the VCenter Server and the ESXi host that it is on. I am still haveing the smae problem.

I don't beleive the reboot fixes this issue.

Had same issue with brand new vSphere 4 install. Rebooted ESXi host and all is well. Hope this is not a recurring problem when I go into production mode!
