Clustering software supported by VMware

Hi team,

Sorry to bother you but I can´t find the document where VMware says the clustering software supported. If I recall well Microsoft Clustering software is supported as well as Veritas but I am not so sure about Veritas clustering software being supported.

Thanking you in advance,

Saludos,

This is the best I could find, and it only mentions MSCS

I assume you question can be divided to 2:

1) What clustering software is supported by VMware to run in VMs. - Answer is: all. Unless software do not require special hardware, it can run in VMs.

2) What clustering software is supported by software vendor to run in VMware ESX VMs. - No answer.

Actually answer to question 2 is like this: Some vendors support clustering, some support with some restrictions, some do not support at all. You should ask your software vendor.

Hi all,

Thanks for your prompt reply. much appreciated. It appers that VeritasClustering software has been left out since ESX 3.x. If I recall well Veritas Clustering software was supported in VMware ESX 2.x but correct me if I am wrong.

Yes you are right. It used to be specifically mentioned but it doesn't seem to be anymore. And although clustering is just a piece of software there are specific requirements you will need to meet and specific restrictions and caveats/
