I am trying to relocate a VM located on my ESXi 3.5 Host, from one local storage disk to another.
Connected to the ESXi 3.5 Host from the VMware Infrastructure Client, I have terned off the VM.
For some reason When I right click on the inventory as i am instructed, the option of "Relocate Virtual machine Files"
is grayed out.
Can someone explain me what am i doing wrong ?
Arik
To move a VM you need VC (migrate operation).
Without is you can do or from Service Console, or from datastore browser (select root, then move the folder, then re-register the VM).

Yes, first I would like to relocate local to local.
Local to Shared, would be the next step, after establishing a NFS storage.
Arik.
Local to local your eaisest route would by by utilising vConverter. then deleting the original one. without shared storage you cannot migrate you can do local --> Shared. Shared ->> Shared, Shared --> Local but not local --> remote local, you can do Local to Local (same host) the reason for this is that the Hosts need to see the Storage they are migrating too. and local storage by its very nature is seen only by the host that is holding it.
