so you can lookup the host using FQDN and hostname... and not only IP address?

Is the host located on remote subnet?

Are you using VC or do you manage the host/ VMs directly?

If directly can you telnet the host on port 902? You should see something like "VMware Authentication Daemon Version bla bla.."

Sorry for my delayed response and thanks again for the help.

Yes via FQDN a can find the host!!!

The host is in a different subnet. In this subnet are just all the other host (ESX 3.5 server) of my infrastructure, for security reason. But is not in a remote office, it is in my same LAN.

I’m using VC to connect to this host and to the other, but if I try a direct connection the error is the same.

I try what you say about the telnet to the port 902, here the answer.

Escape character is '^]'.

220 VMware Authentication Daemon Version 1.10: SSL Required, ServerDaemonProtocol:SOAP, MKSDisplayProtocol:VNC ,

Thank you very much. </span>

Have you recently configured your hosts.allow and hosts.deny files? To be sure check your /var/log/messages and you should see refusals when trying to connect with the console.

If you are denying all in your hosts.deny file, make sure that your hosts.allow contains the systems you want to run your console from:

vmware-authd: IPaddress:allow

Thanks for your answer.

The vlan where the hosts for the VMware are is protected by a Firewall, so I never touch this file.

Now I try to remember what's happened with this host??

Initially this host has two Service Console port for security reason, and is the only one with the problem, I don't think that this is the reason why this host don’t work, but is a different with the others hosts that work OK.

Really the only problem with this host is that the VMs hosted in, doesn’t has Console, everything else work just fine.
