Vmware infrastructure client could not establish the initial connection with the server localhost. The Server took too long to respond

Hi,

after the upgrade to 3.5 update 4 the virtual center gives me the error in subject.

In the same vm resides the license server too.

Have you got any suggestion?

Thanks

Hi,

Have you checked that the VMware VirtualCenter Server Service is running? Also is SQL running?

I would try the following:

From the vCenter server connect to the fully qualified domain name of the server.

Connect to the vCenter server from a remote machine, for example your PC using the VI Client.

Ping localhost and make sure it responds.

These should help work out where the problem is occuring.

I have tried...

1) From the vCenter server connect to the fully qualified domain name of the server.

2) Connect to the vCenter server from a remote machine, for example your PC using the VI Client.

No results...the same error...

3) Ping localhost and make sure it responds.

The localhost responds to the ping

Thanks for your help and for your time

one thing to consider during the upgrade all your ESX hosts have the vCenter Managment agents updated on the hosts as well. Depending on how many hosts you have in your enviornment, your vCenter Server may be busy for a bit. Give it like 15 or so minutes and you may find you can log in.

When was the vCenter server last rebooted? Post install of update 4?

I would check the event log to see if there were any errors, especially at startup, verify that no services had issues after the reboot.
