Question about patching ESXi running off USB

Hi All,

I have a few questions, we plan on running ESXi off an HP supplied 2GB USB key. I had a few questions.

How do we patch the USB key to the current version?

Can we make a backup of the USB key? If so how? I understand the HP recovery CD will make a copy of the USB key but

what about the configs, which directories would I need to save manually off the running key?

Thanks,

Greg

If you have vCenter Server then you can use Update Manager to patch your hosts. Otherwise you can use these methods - http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/Patch_3i_without_VC.php. To backup your hosts config use vicfg-cfgbackup - http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/esx_3i_rcli/vicfg-cfgbackup.php.
