Adding a VM cluster node (Iscsi) to Physical cluster node (Scsi) - i have now got Iscsi connection from this to SAN (extra NIC)

Adding a virtual cluster node to a physical cluster whose shared storage is SCSI (DELL PV220s Disk Array).

I would like to virtualise this cluster, so far my reading says add a new (third node) in the virtual environment and then evict the physical nodes eventually.

Could someone guide me how will I set up my shared storage on SAN side.

So far I have been able to create an ISCSI connection to my dell equallogic SAN and map a volume (LUN) created on SAN to one of my cluster nodes.

Now could you please give me the steps I need to take in order to add a third node so that it can become a part of my physical cluster. Aim is to get rid of the physical cluster in the end

Thanks alot

Hello,

Moved to Virtual Machine and Guest OS forum.

Adding a virtual cluster node to a physical cluster whose shared storage is SCSI (DELL PV220s Disk Array).

You will first need to migrate the data from the PV220s to some form of shared storage that ESX recognizes as shared storage. PV220s are not considered shared storage for ESX.

I would like to virtualise this cluster, so far my reading says add a new (third node) in the virtual environment and then evict the physical nodes eventually.

If your data is on some form of remote storage, then yes this is possible.

Could someone guide me how will I set up my shared storage on SAN side.

So far I have been able to create an ISCSI connection to my dell equallogic SAN and map a volume (LUN) created on SAN to one of my cluster nodes.
