vitual machine shutdown after log in
can you boot the virtual machine into safe mode? we just want to make sure that no software conflict is occurring ... if you can get the system stable in safe mode, you'll have to check the event logs to figure it out a bit more.

i boot into safe mode and same thing happened
i also tried repair of the windows os
also upgraded the VC and ESX
help is needed urgently because client is going to kick me and my vmware virtualization out of is soon!

Problem with just this particular VM?
If you do not log on, will it shut down? If not, try to login with different profile. (if you tried safe mode, then you most likely done this already)
From other server, open Computer management consloe and choose to manage different server, point to the server with the problem
This should allow you to check Event logs (system, application and security) on the troubled server..

sorry this came late.
this is due to a virus 'almanaha' on the virtual machine.
this was resolved by attaching the .vmdk of the vm to another vm with updated antivirus for scanning. after scanning, the .vmdk file was detached.
after scanning the vm started fine
