Hi All,
We have installed ESX 3.5 Update 2 on a IBM blade center. We created a virtual machine with Windows XP guest OS & enabled RDP. when we access the Virtual desktop using thinclient. Keyboard keys are malfunctioning. Once we log off & log in again to the desktop. It works fine for sometime. This issue is only with windows XP guest OS. We have reinstalled Vmware tools but still we face the issue.
Since we have cloned from a template. All the virtual desktops are having the same issue.
ESX version : 3.5 update 2 110268 ( Installed on a Blade Center).
Guest OS : windows XP with SP2.
Thanks in advance.
Welcoem tot he Forums - Can you be more specific on how the keyboard is malfunctioning?

Hi,
The issue we face is when we try to use some of the keys eg: when we open a word & type "R" Run prompt is opening. When we press CNTRL+C to copy & paste some window opens & toggles between multiple windows. We are even not able to type some of the keys in the document.
Same way we are not able to use "backspace" ALT keys.
when we log off & log in again it will work for around 1- 2 hrs after that same issue will occur again.
Hi
I noticed the same issue when connecting to VMs using RDP client. The problem is most likely your own PC - not the VM. Try the following: Open an RDP Session and lock your Workstation using WinL. Log back on and go back to your RDP Session. The Windows Keys E,M,F, ... will now perform the same funktions as if you pressed Win E,M,F,... . Press the Windows Key and it should go away. The same thing happens when your Workstation gets locked by a Screensaver. The only workaround I found is to either press the Windows Key inside the RDP Session once this happens or minimize the RDP Window before locking the Workstation.
